OBITUARIES

WILLIE O. STRID, SR.
Willie O. Strid, Sr. GREENVILLE, Willie O. Strid, Sr., 84, died May 23, 2006, at his home in Greenville. He was born February 4, 1922, in New Sweden, Maine, son of August and Nancy (Zettermen) Strid. He served in the US Army in the 494th Field Artillery, for 3 years in Europe during WWII. After the war, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Scott Paper for many years. He was a Communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church in Greenville and served as Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the American Legion post #94 in Greenville.

He is survived by a son and his wife, Willie and Cheryl Strid Jr. of Greenville; 5 daughters, Gloria and her husband, Richard Sears of Monson, Jeanette Hyland of Greenville, Roselyn Trudeau and her Partner, Donald Whitehouse of Saco, Norma and her husband, Rene Bedard of Old Orchard Beach, Nancy and her husband, Rick Melcher of Saco; a sister and her husband, Freda and Mayford Dickinson of Caribou; 27 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Bernice (St. Peter) Strid; 4 sisters, Adeline, Lillian, Anna, Roselyn; a brother, Carl; and a son-in-law, Herbert Hyland Jr.

Friends may call Thursday, May 25, 2006, from 3 to 5, and 7 to 9 PM, at the Crosby & Neal Greenville Funeral Chapel, at the Masonic building on 281 Pritham Ave. in Greenville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr James Modlin. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
