ZELMA STOCKER TOWLE ENGLE
DEXTER - Zelma Stocker Towle Engle, 93, passed away Jan. 15, 2006, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born April 1, 1912, in East Corinth, the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth (Brown) Stocker. She graduated from East Corinth Academy, valedictorian of the Class of 1931. She married Richard "Red" Towle in March 1932 and they resided in Dexter for many years and had two daughters, Diane and Mary. In October, 1974, she married Herman Engle and lived in Denver, Colo. until January 1993, when she returned to Dexter to reside with her daughter, Mary Hunter, until her death. She enjoyed church and had many friends. She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she was an excellent seamstress and worked at that most of her life.
She is survived by daughters, Diane Davis of Worland, Wyo. and Mary Hunter of Dexter; three stepchildren, Norma Peppers of California, Gerry Anderson and Eugene Engle, both of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Esther Kielian of Colorado; special brother-in-law, Leon Towle of Dexter; special cousin, Barbara Cameron of Brewer; and
special nephews, Eugene and Richard Stocker, and their families, of Exeter. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Engle; her brother, Elmer Stocker; and her sister, Eveyln Richardson.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
